How do Infographics help Gift Learners Succeed in Education?

Gifted Education / EDGE - Pull-Out & Push-In Enrichment Program

Things have been changing in Education. Students no longer learn from just a textbook and writing notes. Teachers are looking for new ways to teach their students how to understand the material in the curriculum at hand. One way that is being done is by using infographics in the classroom. Infographics have become increasingly popular in the education setting. This is because it allows for complex information to be presented in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand manner. A majority of the time infographics are used to provide students with a quick overview of the topic that is being discussed.

Infographics can be used in many ways. They are used to illustrate data, timelines, and many other types of information. For example, currently, in one of my GATE classes, we use infographics for science, history, and math. These visual representations help the students better understand the materials that are being taught to them. It is a new and creative way for teachers to showcase new class material.

There is a multitude of reasons why infographics help gifted learners. The main being is how engaging they are to students. Infographics are a visual representation of information which makes it easier for students to understand and remember. Instead of reading a boring textbook, an infographic uses graphs, colors, and other visual elements to convey the same information. Infographics are also visually appealing. They have bright colors and interesting designs that capture the viewer's attention which makes it more likely for the student to remember the information they read.

Gifted students grasp concepts quickly and differently than their peers. This is why having infographics is so important. They have a strong desire for knowledge and need more stimulation than normal education students. We all know that student or peer who can never seem to keep still or always has to stay busy. This is because they sell out challenging material and topics. Gifted students tend to also have a great capacity for abstract thinking and problem-solving. This leads them to approach tasks differently. This causes more individualized learning. Gifted learners are heavily visual learners. Sonja Foss wrote about how visual rhetoric is inclusive and compassionate  (2017). Visual rhetoric, like in infographics, uses images and other visuals to convey a message, It involves the deliberate arrangement of visuals to create an effect. It uses a combination of color, composition, and mood.

Infographics are used every day. They are not just used in school but in business all around the world. The world is constantly changing and evolving. With the world turning towards, technology with each passing day, infographics are a way to hold on to the old ways of taking notes. It helps people learn new tricks and remember them. Students are learning every day. They have new and bright ideas to show the world. They have so much to offer. Infographics are just one way to help the new generation succeed in this new type of world.
Can you name another way to help students succeed?
